Revolutionary Tech for Efficient Muscle Tissue Growth in Cultivated Meat

Project Goal

The ProFuse EIC Transition project addresses the urgent need for sustainable meat alternatives by tackling key challenges in cultivated meat production—namely, improving muscle tissue growth, reducing costs, and enhancing product quality. This is vital as global meat demand is expected to double by 2050, while traditional meat production remains environmentally harmful and resource-intensive. Cultivated meat offers a safer, more sustainable solution that also mitigates risks from disease outbreaks. The project’s goal is to advance commercialization of the ProFuse products by refining muscle 3D growth methods, adapting the ProFuse cell lines to the customer’s production environment, and optimizing the ProFuse media supplements to maximize their positive impact on cost reduction and product quality improvement, ultimately supporting food security and ethical meat production.

  • Spontaneously Immortalized Myoblast Cell Line (PROFUSE-B8): This unique cell line is capable of both efficient proliferation and differentiation into muscle tissue.
  • Muscle Differentiation Media Supplement (PROFUSE-S1 and S2): Our supplements enhance muscle stem cell fusion and maturation, significantly improving efficiency and reducing production time.
